Sometimes I catch myself thinking about my grandma’s kitchen.
I can still picture that little wooden chair I used to stand on so I could reach the counter.
She’d let me wash strawberries…
Stir the pancake batter…
And she’d always tell everyone,
“Look at my little helper.”
Back then, I honestly thought we were just making breakfast.
Now I realize…
We were making memories.
Now that I’m a mom myself, life feels completely different.
Between work…
School…
Laundry…
Dinner…
And trying to keep up with everything else…
Sometimes cooking healthy meals feels more stressful than enjoyable.
And I hate that feeling.
Because deep down…
I don’t just want my kids to eat healthy.
I want them to have the same kind of childhood memories I have.
That’s when I started inviting them into the kitchen with me.
Not because I wanted perfect recipes…
But because I wanted time together.
Something amazing happened.
The more they helped…
The more curious they became.
They wanted to wash the fruit.
Pick the vegetables.
Mix the ingredients.
Even try foods they usually ignored.
Little by little…
Cooking stopped feeling like another chore.
It became part of our family time.
One day…
My kids probably won’t remember every dinner we had.
But I hope they’ll remember laughing in the kitchen.
Making funny little animals out of fruit.
Getting flour all over the counter.
And feeling proud because they helped make the meal.
To me…
That’s what healthy eating is really about.
Not perfection.
Just creating little moments they’ll never forget.
